Family and household COVID-19 walk-in clinics extended at St Luke’s Hospital

Following the success of the family and household COVID vaccination walk-in clinics at St Luke’s Hospital, the NHS in Bradford district and Craven is offering additional dates throughout November, providing protection against the virus to anybody aged 12 or older.

Vaccination clinics for 12-15 year olds are also being held at Jacobs Well and Airedale Hospital, as well as the other large-scale vaccination centres in West Yorkshire, and parents can book appointments for their children online using the NHS National Booking Service or by calling 119.

This provides an additional option for children in this age group to get their jab during half term, alongside the clinics being provided in schools. Clinics have already been booked in for all schools in Bradford and will be completed by mid-November.

The NHS in Bradford district and Craven is hoping the family and household clinics at St Luke’s Hospital will particularly appeal to people who would prefer to have their vaccinations within their familiar group.

Karen Dawber, Senior Responsible Officer for the vaccination programme in Bradford district and Craven said: “Although people can book appointments through the NHS National Booking Service, offering a walk-in clinic at St Luke’s provides flexibility and convenience for families and households who will find it easier to attend for vaccination at the same time. You do not have to be registered with a GP to attend a walk-in clinic, but if you are aged 12 to 15 you must be accompanied by an adult.

“I urge you all to consider each other and your loved ones and take the opportunity to have the COVID vaccination. We know that the vaccine will help to save lives and reduce the spread of infection.”

All vaccinations for 12-15-year-olds will be given by trained staff who specialise in working with children and young people. Parents and guardians are asked to attend vaccination clinics with their children and consent will be sought on the day. People are also asked to read the patient information in advance of arriving for their appointment, which is available online.
