Online services for patients
There are a wide range of free apps available for patients to manage their own health and wellbeing. These include the NHS App (for accessing a wide range of NHS services), SystmOnline (for booking GP appointments and managing prescriptions), and Orcha (a health apps library and comparison site).
You can now access a range of NHS services on your smartphone or tablet using the NHS App. The app is simple to use, secure and can make it easier and more convenient to manage your health and wellbeing.
All GP practices in Bradford district and Craven are connected to the NHS App to allow you to book and manage appointments, order repeat prescriptions and view your patient record.
The NHS App also allows you to:
• check your symptoms
• find out what to do when you need help urgently
• register to be an organ donor
• choose how the NHS uses your data
You can register yourself for the NHS App. For more information about the NHS App and how to register, visit the NHS website (opens in a new window).
If you are registered with a GP practice, you can request online access to SystmOnline, which allows you to book appointments, order repeat prescriptions, view test results and view your medical record. The service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, every day of the year. It can often be more convenient than a phone call or travelling to your GP practice.
SystmOnline can be used on your computer and/or downloaded as an app for your smartphone or tablet.
To get started with SystmOnline you will need to ask your GP practice to give you a username and password. You will need to take a form of identification with you to your GP practice when you register (passport, driving licence or birth certificate).
You can also request access to online services on behalf of somebody you care for, just ask your GP practice for more information.
Find out more about registering for online services on the NHS England website (opens in a new window).
Orcha is a health apps library which lists clinically approved and recommended apps to help you manage your health and wellbeing. It includes apps that can help you be more active, manage your mental wellbeing, long term conditions and much more.
You can take a look at the recommended apps available, on the Bradford district and Craven health app website (opens in a new window).
